Zum Weltbauerntag am 1. Juni: Was bringt die Digitalisierung der Landwirtschaft? Unser Podcast-Thema der Woche im AirCampus

Die Podcast-Plattform der Grazer Universtitäten, der AirCampus, präsentiert jeden Montag Wissens-Podcasts, heute zu diesen Themen:

1) Traktor und Tablet: Drohnen als Datensammler, Melk-Roboter und per Tablet gesteuerte Traktoren: vor 100 Jahren galt all das noch als Science-Fiction. Zum Weltbauerntag am 1. Juni fragen wir: Welche digitalen Tools unterstützen die Landwirtschaft heute und wie wird sich dieser Bereich entwickeln?

2) Feinstaubschleuder: AutofahrerInnen, wir haben ein Problem: Bremsen verursachen mehr Partikelemissionen als Verbrennungsmotoren über Abgase. Das weiß kaum jemand, daher gibt es keine gesetzlichen Reglementierungen. Die TU Graz macht auf dieses Problem aufmerksam.

3) Umfassendes Bild: Adipositas wird oft mit "Fettleibigkeit" übersetzt. Zu Unrecht, denn es ist eine komplexe, chronische Erkrankung, die nicht zwingend mit Faulheit oder fehlender Selbstdisziplin zu tun hat. Die Forschung betrachtet die Krankheit, Ursachen und Therapie heute ganzheitlich.

4) Erzähl mir von deiner Welt: An der KUG findet wieder die Reihe "Grazer Musikinstitutionen im Gespräch” statt. Dabei erzählen KünstlerInnen von ihrer Berufswelt, von Klassik bis Avantgarde. Organisatorin Jennifer Ronyak vom Institut für Musikästhetik über das Format.

Was ist der AirCampus?
Das Podcast-Projekt der vier Grazer Universitäten versorgt MitarbeiterInnen, Studierende sowie alle Interessierten das ganze Studienjahr über mit wissenswerten Infos aus der Welt der Forschung, aus dem Bildungsbereich und dem Campusleben der Universität Graz, Technischen Universität, Medizinischen Universität und Kunstuniversität.

Früher als "Webradio" bekannt, gibt es auf der Website http://www.aircampus-graz.at auch alle Podcasts, die vor dem 2. Oktober 2017 publiziert wurden, im Archiv zum Nachhören. Uns gibt es übrigens auch auf Spotify und Apple Podcasts!

Die Initiative erhielt 2012 den Inge-Morath-Preis des Landes Steiermark, 2017 den PR-Panther in der Kategorie "Wissenschaft" und 2018 den Green Panther in der Kategorie Online Kommunikation.

Whilst mobile phones are increasingly being banned from the classroom, social media platforms, apps and AI are playing an ever-greater role in knowledge transfer at school. But how can teaching with media be made even more effective? What are the challenges in media-based teaching? At the University of Graz, researchers are discussing these issues at a conference being held in Austria for the first time.

Jurassic Sounds: Biologist reconstructs insect songs from 165 million years ago

It was apparently not just the roars of the dinosaurs that made up the soundscape of the animal world during the Jurassic period. Crickets and grasshoppers communicated through a variety of songs and high-pitched sounds, as Thorin Jonsson from the Institute of Biology at the University of Graz discovered together with colleagues from the universities of Lincoln, Bristol (UK), Beijing (China) and Tempe (USA). The findings on what are so far the oldest traces of sound on Earth have just been published in the journal PNAS.
