The Great War

Zentrum für Südosteuropa-Studien der Uni Graz ist Mitorganisator der großen HistorikerInnen-Konferenz in Sarajevo

Eine hochkarätige internationale Konferenz zum Ersten Weltkrieg versammelt von 18. bis 21. Juni 2014 HistorikerInnen aus aller Welt in Sarajevo. Mitveranstaltet wird der Kongress vom Zentrum für Südosteuropa-Studien der Uni Graz. Unter dem Titel „The Great War: Regional Approaches and Global Contexts” widmet sich die Veranstaltung einem breiten Themenspektrum: von Franz Ferdinand und der Idee eines Groß-Österreich über die Auswirkungen der Spanischen Grippe bis hin zur „slawische Frage“ in der Monarchie sowie den ökonomischen und sozialen Konsequenzen des Krieges.

 

OrganisatorInnen sind neben dem Grazer Zentrum für Südosteuropa-Studien das Institut für Geschichte der Universität Sarajevo, das Institut für Ost- und Südosteuropa-Studien der Uni Regensburg, das Forschungszentrum für Humanwissenschaften der Ungarischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, das Institut für Balkanstudien und Thrakologie der Bulgarischen Akademie der Wissenschaften, das Institut für Nationalgeschichte in Skopje, das Institut für Zeitgeschichte in Ljubljana und das Kroatische Institut für Geschichte in Zagreb.
Ko-Organisator ist das European Network Remembrance and Solidarity mit Sitz in Warschau.

Mit dem Ersten Weltkrieg befassen sich heuer auch die „Southeast European Dialogues“ des Zentrums für Südosteuropa-Studien von 20.- 22. November 2014 an der Uni Graz. Die Jahrestagung mit dem Titel „Histories of 1914. Debates and Use of the Origins of World War One in Southeastern Europe“ konzentriert sich im Besonderen darauf, wie der Große Krieg in Südosteuropa im Gedächtnis verankert ist.
