Most people who love being active have probably experienced their knees going weak during a steep mountain hike or an extra-long run. For people with type 1 diabetes, however, hypoglycaemia can quickly become dangerous. Othmar Moser, Professor of Performance Physiology and Training Therapy at the Department of Human Movement Science, Sport and Health, is investigating how insulin doses can be optimally adjusted to physical activity with the help of modern technologies – such as automated delivery systems – and how to ensure carbohydrate intake is tailored to one’s needs whilst exercising.
