Heute im AirCampus-Podcast: Wie läuft das Wintersemester ab - trotz und mit Corona?

Die Podcast-Plattform der Grazer Universtitäten, der AirCampus, präsentiert ab dieser Woche wieder jeden Montag vier Wissens-Podcasts, heute zu diesen Themen:

1) Semesterstart: Das neue Semester beginnt – trotz und mit Corona. Wie das Virus den Studien- und Arbeitsbetrieb an der Universität Graz beeinflusst und was sich rund um den Campus sonst noch tut, haben wir im aktuellen Podcast zusammengefasst.

2) Ein Dach für alle Daten: Die TU Graz bekommt Gebäude-Zuwachs: Das „Data House“ soll ab Sommer 2022 zum neuen Hot-Spot für Innovationen im Digitalisierungsbereich werden. Inhaltliche Schwerpunkte sind Data-Driven Business, Big Data Analytics und künstlicher Intelligenz.

3) Zuckerstand per App: Sport hält jung und fit, birgt jedoch für manche auch Gefahren - wie Menschen mit Diabetes Typ 1. Um diese zu minimieren, arbeitet ein Team der Med Uni Graz an einer neuen App für ein verbessertes Zuckermanagement während des Sports.

4) Wie wirkt Populismus? Was wie funktioniert Populismus - und wie geht jedeR Einzelne damit um? Diese Frage untersucht das preigekrönte Musiktheater "Populus" des Komponisten Peter Jakober. Aufführungen am 11., 12. und 14. Oktober im MUMUTH.

Was ist der AirCampus?
Das Podcast-Projekt der vier Grazer Universitäten versorgt MitarbeiterInnen, Studierende sowie alle Interessierten das ganze Studienjahr über mit wissenswerten Infos aus der Welt der Forschung, aus dem Bildungsbereich und dem Campusleben der Universität Graz, Technischen Universität, Medizinischen Universität und Kunstuniversität. Früher als "Webradio" bekannt, gibt es auf der Website http://www.aircampus-graz.at auch alle Podcasts, die vor dem 2. Oktober 2017 publiziert wurden, im Archiv zum Nachhören. Uns gibt es übrigens auch auf Spotify und iTunes!

Die Initiative erhielt 2012 den Inge-Morath-Preis des Landes Steiermark, 2017 den PR-Panther in der Kategorie "Wissenschaft" und 2018 den Green Panther in der Kategorie Online Kommunikation.

In future, students will benefit from even more joint degree programmes and from simplified recognition of academic achievements through the Joint European Degree Label.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
