Heute im AirCampus-Podcast: Wie bauen Menschen Vertrauen zu teilautonomen Fahrzeugen auf?

Die Podcast-Plattform der Grazer Universtitäten, der AirCampus, ist nach der Osterpause zurück und präsentiert in dieser Woche Wissens-Beiträge - allesamt im Homeoffice gestaltet - zu folgenden Themen:

1) Wie Maschinen vertrauen? Wie Menschen - zumindest für einige Zeit - Vertrauen in teilautonome Fahrzeuge aufbauen, untersucht das Forschungsprojekt VERDI, bei dem JuristInnen, SoziologInnen, PsychologInnen und PhilosophInnen zusammenarbeiten.

2) Hörsaal für zuhause: Die Corona-bedingte Umstellung auf die digitale Lehre stellt sowohl Unis auch als Studierende auf die Probe. Benedikt Brünner, Student und Mitarbeiter der TU Graz, berichtet von seinen persönlichen Erfahrungen mit der Onlinelehre.

3) Inspiration für Neues: SängerInnen können sich ab dem kommenden Wintersemester an der KUG auf Zeitgenössische Musik spezialisieren. Holger Falk gibt einen Vorgeschmack auf das neue Masterstudium „Perfomance Practice in Contemporary Music – Vokal“.

4) Schnelle Sicherheit: Krebs schneller diagnostizieren durch ein rascheres DNA-Sequenzierungsverfahren: Dieses Projekt läuft aktuell an der Med Uni Graz. Ein weiterer Vorteil: Durch einen optimierten Informationsfluss profitieren alle PatientInnen.

Was ist der AirCampus?
Das Podcast-Projekt der vier Grazer Universitäten versorgt MitarbeiterInnen, Studierende sowie alle Interessierten das ganze Studienjahr über mit wissenswerten Infos aus der Welt der Forschung, aus dem Bildungsbereich und dem Campusleben der Universität Graz, Technischen Universität, Medizinischen Universität und Kunstuniversität. Früher als "Webradio" bekannt, gibt es auf der Website http://www.aircampus-graz.at auch alle Podcasts, die vor dem 2. Oktober 2017 publiziert wurden, im Archiv zum Nachhören. Uns gibt es übrigens auch auf Spotify und iTunes!

Die Initiative erhielt 2012 den Inge-Morath-Preis des Landes Steiermark, 2017 den PR-Panther in der Kategorie "Wissenschaft" und 2018 den Green Panther in der Kategorie Online Kommunikation.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
