Manfred Faßler im Gespräch mit Anita Prettenthaler-Ziegerhofer

Medien-Experte Manfred Faßler diskutierte über die Digitalisierung des Alltags

Wissenschaft und WissenschafterInnen in der Öffentlichkeit besser sichtbar zu machen, ist das Ziel der Gesprächsreihe „Science goes public“, initiiert von Zeithistorikerin Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Anita Prettenthaler-Ziegerhofer und veranstaltet unter dem Dach der 7. fakultät – Zentrum für Gesellschaft, Wissen und Kommunikation an der Uni Graz. Im Fokus steht dabei die Suche nach Möglichkeiten der Kommunikation zwischen Wissenschaft und Medien.

„Vielleicht kommen sich Wissenschaft und Journalismus in einem Punkt näher, auf den sie gar nicht geachtet haben: Beide sind der Beschleunigung ausgesetzt“, so einer der vielen interessanten Gedanken, die Medien-Experte Prof. Dr. Manfred Faßler bei „Science goes public“ am 22. Mai 2014 im Palais Kottulinsky aufwarf. Unter dem Titel „Dokument, Kommunikation, Datenflows“ beleuchtete der Forscher, der auch Erfahrungen im Journalismus gesammelt hat, im Gespräch mit Anita Prettenthaler-Ziegerhofer und dem Publikum die Digitalisierung des Alltags und der Gesellschaft.

Manfred Faßler ist Professor für Soziologie/Anthropologie an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main und leitet dort das Forschungsnetzwerk Anthropologie des Medialen (FAMe). Zu seinen aktuellen Veröffentlichungen zählen „Kampf der Habitate. Neuerfindung des Lebens im 21. Jahrhundert“ (2012) und „Das Soziale. Entwicklung und Zukunft menschlicher Selbstorganisation“ (2014).

Around the world in eight stops: the Long Night of Research at the University of Graz

On 24 April from 5 pm, you can take a short trip around the globe at the University of Graz, discovering pecularities of foreign countries or new local features in the entrance hall of the University Library. The itinerary takes you through introduced animal species, political attitudes and the omnipotence of algorithms. There will also be a programme in the historic reading hall, as well as at the UniGraz@Museum and the University Archive.
