Rund um die Rösselmühle: Uni Graz sucht neue Wege fürs Griesviertel

Die im April teilweise abgebrannte Rösselmühle steht symbolisch für den umliegenden Grazer Bezirk Gries: Bleibt in der früheren Vorstadt und dem einstigen Arbeiter:innenviertel auch künftig nur Asche zurück? Welche Erinnerungen, Bedürfnisse und Hoffnungen die Menschen im Stadtteil haben, erforscht die Universität Graz gemeinsam mit den Bewohner:innen. Am 2. Juli 2023 laden Studierende und Wissenschaftler:innen zu Führung und Dialog rund um die Rösselmühle.

„Mit dem Brand der Mühle rückten auch drängende Probleme und Kontroversen der Murvorstadt ins Bewusstsein der Stadt“, erklärt die Projektleiterin Katharina Eisch-Angus den Ausgangspunkt. Die Wissenschaftlerin am Institut für Kulturanthropologie und Europäische Ethnologie nennt Beispiele: „Knackpunkte sind die ungebremste Bauspekulation und der dramatische Verlust der gewachsenen Vorstadtlandschaft, eine mangelnde Wertschätzung des industriellen Erbes jenseits der Mur und der vielfältigen sozialkulturellen Bedürfnisse der Menschen.“

Das Forschungsprojekt, das sich noch bis Anfang 2024 der erlebten Geschichte, den Erzählungen und Beziehungen rund um die Rösselmühle widmet, versucht hier einen Perspektivenwechsel. Dies unter anderem beim „Erzähltag für die Zukunft“ am kommenden Sonntag: Ab 10 Uhr führt ein Erzählspaziergang vom Rösselmühlpark entlang des Mühlgangs zum Volkshaus in der Lagergasse. Dort finden ab 13 Uhr Impulsreferate sowie eine Diskussion statt.

Forschendes Lehren in der und für die Stadt steht seit vielen Jahrzehnten am Institut für Kulturanthropologie und Europäische Ethnologie der Uni Graz im Mittelpunkt.

The astrophysicists have developed an AI-supported method that makes even the smallest structures on the Sun visible. The scientists are convinced that this will bring about a lasting change in solar observation and that the new method can be used for the planned European Solar Telescope.
