Die Montagsakademie eröffnete das neue Studienjahr mit einem Vortrag über Bienen und ihre Roboter-Verwandtschaft. Leitthema ist diesmal "Wissenschaft und gesellschaftliche Verantwortung: entdecken - forschen - wirken"

Kein Format bringt universitäre Forschung so nahe an die Bevölkerung und in die Regionen wie die Montagsakademie der Universität Graz. Die Veranstaltungsreihe startete am 14. Oktober 2019 mit einem neuen Programm in das Studienjahr. Neu ist auch der zweijährige Programmzyklus „Wissenschaft und gesellschaftliche Verantwortung: entdecken – forschen – wirken“, der einmal mehr auf die gesellschaftliche Relevanz universitärer Spitzenforschung aufmerksam macht.

Die Vizerektorin für Studium und Lehre Catherine Walter-Laager eröffnete erstmals in dieser Funktion die Montagsakademie - der Vortrag des anerkannten Bienenforschers Karl Crailsheim zum Bienentanz und Roboterbienen wurde in acht Außenstellen übertragen. Weiter geht es am 28. Oktober 2019, wenn Archäologe Peter Scherrer über das digitale Thema „Von der Handschrift zur Forschungsdatenbank – Wissensarchive im Wandel“ sprechen wird.

Around the world in eight stops: the Long Night of Research at the University of Graz

On 24 April from 5 pm, you can take a short trip around the globe at the University of Graz, discovering pecularities of foreign countries or new local features in the entrance hall of the University Library. The itinerary takes you through introduced animal species, political attitudes and the omnipotence of algorithms. There will also be a programme in the historic reading hall, as well as at the UniGraz@Museum and the University Archive.
