Uni Graz und China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences unterzeichnen Kooperationsvertrag im Bereich TCM

Die Uni Graz hat ihr Netzwerk ins Land des Lächelns verdichtet: Das Institut für Pharmazeutische Wissenschaften besiegelte Ende Juni eine weitere Kooperation mit der China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS) in Peking. Eine hochrangige Delegation dieser Institution kam für das Abkommen nach Graz. Beschlossen wurde die Errichtung eines Co-Research Center im Bereich der Erforschung von Arzneipflanzen der traditionellen chinesischen Medizin. Es soll in das bestehende interuniversitäre TCM-Forschungszentrum Graz integriert werden, das vor zehn Jahren von Rudolf Bauer initiiert wurde. Das Co-Research Center dient der wissenschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit, dem technologischen Austausch, dem Training von WissenschafterInnen sowie innovativem Team-Building zur Entwicklung traditioneller Arzneimittel in China und Österreich. Adelheit Brantner führt gemeinsam mit Bian Baolin vom Institute of Materia Medica ein Projekt zur Qualitätskontrolle von chinesischen pflanzlichen Arzneimitteln durch. Rudolf Bauer leitet in Kooperation mit Li Min und Tong Xiaolin vom Biology Research Office des Guang’an Men Hospital ein Projekt zur Erforschung der Wirkstoffe und Wirkungsmechanismen von chinesischen Kräutermischungen gegen chronische, lebensstilbedingte Erkrankungen wie Diabetes.
Den Kooperationsvertrag unterzeichneten der Vizepräsident der CACMS Yang Longhui, Vizerektor Peter Riedler, Vizedekan Karl Lohner und Rudolf Bauer, Leiter des Instituts für Pharmazeutische Wissenschaften, im Beisein von Wolf-Dieter Rausch, dem Präsidenten von Eurasia-Pacific UniNet. Im Zuge dieses Aktes wurde auch feierlich eine Plakette enthüllt.

“HeinrichBiCool”: University of Graz demonstrates the effects of green facades and roofs

The University of Graz has launched a pioneering project at the University Centre for Theology. Its name, “HeinrichBiCool”, says it all: a comprehensive system of green facades and roof will cool the building at Heinrichstraße 80 during the summer. At the same time, this will create a new habitat for plants and animals, helping to increase biodiversity. The accompanying monitoring programme will provide detailed data on the impact of the measures on indoor climate, energy consumption and biodiversity. The findings will lay a scientifically sound foundation for further projects aimed at making cities sustainable, climate-resilient and liveable. The partners in this project, funded by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), are AEE INTEC – Institute for Sustainable Technologies, Technisches Büro Siegfried Stark, the landscape architecture and urban planning firm “studio boden”, and Ökoteam Graz.

Sociologists at the University of Graz, in collaboration with VIVID – the Centre for Addiction Prevention, have carried out a survey involving more than 600 participants. Around a quarter of them use these products. The ability to use them discreetly and flexibly is a key motivation.
