Uni Graz beleuchtet am 17. und 18. Oktober aktuelle Entwicklungen in Österreich und der Schweiz

Neutralität, direkte Demokratie, florierende Wirtschaft, hochkarätige Wissenschaft – die Schweiz wird in Öffentlichkeit, Politik und Medien immer wieder als Vorbild für unser Land herangezogen. WissenschafterInnen der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz befassen sich seit Jahrzehnten mit dem Nachbarland als Modellfall für uns. Aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse werden am 17. und 18. Oktober 2013 bei dem Symposium „Österreich – Schweiz: zwei Nachbarn in Europa“ im Resowi-Zentrum präsentiert. Internationale ExpertInnen beleuchten aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln wirtschaftliche, soziale und politische Entwicklungen in beiden Staaten. Das Hauptaugenmerk liegt dabei auf ihrem Beitrag zur europäischen Integration. Es referieren unter anderem Erhard Busek, Jean-Monnet-Professor an der Uni Graz, und Urs Altermatt, Rektor a.D. der Universität Freiburg sowie früherer Unirat der Karl-Franzens-Universität, der sich wissenschaftlich seit langem mit dem Vergleich Österreich – Schweiz befasst. Welche Art von Demokratie und wie viel Religion Europa braucht wird ebenso erörtert wie die nötige Freiheit für eine vernetzte Wirtschaft.
