Uni Graz sucht Testpersonen für Riechstudie

Die süße Würze der Pinienhaine, das einmalige Aroma des Lavendel, den charakteristischen Duft des Meeres: Nicht jeder Mensch kann den Urlaub im Süden mit allen Sinnen genießen. Wie Riechstörungen entstehen und therapiert werden können, wird derzeit an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz erforscht. Das Institut für Psychologie sucht für diese Studie Testpersonen im Alter von 18 bis 45 Jahren, die durch ihre Teilnahme detaillierte Informationen über ihre Geruchsfunktion erhalten.
Die gesamte Untersuchung dauert eine Stunde bis maximal 90 Minuten. Die ProbandInnen nehmen an einer standardisierten Geruchstestung teil und füllen einen Fragebogen aus. Weiters erfolgt eine kurze Entnahme von Nasenschleimhautproben. Die Testpersonen dürfen an keinen neurologischen, psychiatrischen oder sonstigen schweren Erkrankungen sowie weder an akuten Erkältungen, Allergien noch Polypen leiden.

Jurassic Sounds: Biologist reconstructs insect songs from 165 million years ago

It was apparently not just the roars of the dinosaurs that made up the soundscape of the animal world during the Jurassic period. Crickets and grasshoppers communicated through a variety of songs and high-pitched sounds, as Thorin Jonsson from the Institute of Biology at the University of Graz discovered together with colleagues from the universities of Lincoln, Bristol (UK), Beijing (China) and Tempe (USA). The findings on what are so far the oldest traces of sound on Earth have just been published in the journal PNAS.

EU funding boosts international exchange between universities

In future, students will benefit from even more joint degree programmes and from simplified recognition of academic achievements through the Joint European Degree Label.
