Neues Mitmachlabor entführt in die mittelalterliche Küche und lehrt die Kunst des Federschreibens

Regionale Ernährung, nachhaltige Lebensweise und Gesundheitsprophylaxe sind keine Erscheinungen des 21. Jahrhunderts. Bereits im Mittelalter und in der Frühen Neuzeit hatte diese Thematik in der Sachliteratur aus dieser Zeit einen zentralen Stellenwert. Als besonderes Beispiel hierfür gilt die Handschrift Ms.1609 der Grazer Universitätsbibliothek aus dem späten 15. Jahrhundert. Regionale Ernährung, nachhaltige Lebensweise und Gesundheitsprophylaxe haben also einen starken Bezug sowohl zu einem modernen als auch historischen Lebensalltag.

Gesund Altern ist ein zentraler Punkt, wenn es um die Entwicklung der Gesellschaft geht. ForscherInnen der Universität Graz beschäftigen sich mit Fragestellungen zu diesem Thema. In einem eigenen Projekt wurden an der Universität Graz germanistisch-mediävistische und naturwissenschaftliche Forschungsergebnissen aufbereitet und einer breiten Öffentlichkeit nähergebracht. Die Vermittlung dieser altes und neues Wissen verbindenden Inhalte erfolgt nun anhand der im Projekt entwickelten praktischen Kurse im neu gegründeten Mitmachlabor "Mittelalter". Offizieller Startschuss des neuen Labors war am 12. März. Auf Basis der spätmittelalterlichen Handschrift Ms. 1609 werden nun vier Module zur laiengerechten Wissensvermittlung und praktischen Anwendung angeboten: Ernährung, Medizin, Nachhaltigkeit und Mentalität des Mittelalters.

Around the world in eight stops: the Long Night of Research at the University of Graz

On 24 April from 5 pm, you can take a short trip around the globe at the University of Graz, discovering pecularities of foreign countries or new local features in the entrance hall of the University Library. The itinerary takes you through introduced animal species, political attitudes and the omnipotence of algorithms. There will also be a programme in the historic reading hall, as well as at the UniGraz@Museum and the University Archive.
