Zum Welt-Fahrradtag am 3. Juni: Warum Pedale-Treten gesund hält und die Uni Graz als fahrradfreundlicher Betrieb ausgezeichnet ist

Die Podcast-Plattform der Grazer Universtitäten, der AirCampus, präsentiert jeden Montag Wissens-Podcasts, heute zu diesen Themen:

1) I want to ride my bike! Alles dreht sich um das Rad! Nicht nur am 3. Juni, dem Welttag des Fahrrads, sondern das ganze Jahr - zumindest an der Uni Graz. Denn hier gibt es gezielte Maßnahmen, damit der Drahtesel das beliebteste Fortbewegungsmittel bleibt.

2) Smarte Daten: Bis 2030 klimaneutral werden - dieses Ziel verfolgt die TU Graz systematisch. Das Projekt "Inframonitor" ist ein neuer Baustein auf dem Weg dorthin, denn hier wird die gesamte Energie- und Wasserversorgung der Universität in Echtzeit analysiert.

3) Schnittstelle: Körper und Psyche sind eng miteinander verbunden. Josef Jenewein ist neuer Professour für Medizinische Psychologie und erforscht die Zusammenhänge. Ziel ist es, Unterstützung geben zu können, wenn es für Schmerzen keine offensichtlichen Ursachen gibt.

4) Figaro als Premiere: Am 5. Juni wird im Mumuth der KUG die konzertante Aufführung der Oper „La Nozze di Figaro“ von Wolfang Amadeus Mozart im Livestream übertragen. Im Gespräch: Paul Maier, der eine der Vorstellungen als Dirigent leiten wird - für ihn eine persönliche Premiere.

Was ist der AirCampus?
Das Podcast-Projekt der vier Grazer Universitäten versorgt MitarbeiterInnen, Studierende sowie alle Interessierten das ganze Studienjahr über mit wissenswerten Infos aus der Welt der Forschung, aus dem Bildungsbereich und dem Campusleben der Universität Graz, Technischen Universität, Medizinischen Universität und Kunstuniversität.

Früher als "Webradio" bekannt, gibt es auf der Website http://www.aircampus-graz.at auch alle Podcasts, die vor dem 2. Oktober 2017 publiziert wurden, im Archiv zum Nachhören. Uns gibt es übrigens auch auf Spotify und Apple Podcasts!

Die Initiative erhielt 2012 den Inge-Morath-Preis des Landes Steiermark, 2017 den PR-Panther in der Kategorie "Wissenschaft" und 2018 den Green Panther in der Kategorie Online Kommunikation.

Around the world in eight stops: the Long Night of Research at the University of Graz

On 24 April from 5 pm, you can take a short trip around the globe at the University of Graz, discovering pecularities of foreign countries or new local features in the entrance hall of the University Library. The itinerary takes you through introduced animal species, political attitudes and the omnipotence of algorithms. There will also be a programme in the historic reading hall, as well as at the UniGraz@Museum and the University Archive.

Building biological bridges: Chemist discovers an ecological tool for the pharmaceutical industry

Building a relationship on a solid foundation is also important in chemistry. To produce medicines, disinfectants or plant protection products, stable bonds between carbon atoms must be formed. Conventional chemical methods rely on environmentally harmful reagents and solvents to carry out the desired reaction. This process also produces unusable by-products. Chemist Lilla Gal has discovered an enzyme that enables the same process to take place efficiently and sustainably. The results of her research were recently published in the prestigious journal Angewandte Chemie.
