BildungsforscherInnen entwerfen Weiterbildungs-Training um Lehrende zu stärken. Mehr dazu im "HörSaal"-Podcast

Nur, wenn LehrerInnen sich in ihrem Beruf leistungsfähig, fit und unterstützt fühlen, können sie guten Unterricht anbieten. Nicht nur seit der Corona-Pandemie fühlen sich Lehrende aber immer öfter überlastet, ungehört und allein gelassen. Die Universität Graz hat jetzt, gemeinsam mit internationalen PartnerInnen, ein spezielles Training für Lehrende konzipiert. Es soll ihnen dabei helfen, ihre sozialen bzw. emotionale Kompetenzen zu erweitern, ihr Diversitätsbewusstsein zu schärfen und Achtsamkeit zu fördern. Das Angebot richtet sich zunächst besonders an LehrerInnen in Volksschulen und deren Leitungen.

Wie das Training genau ausschaut, welche positiven Effekte es nach sich ziehen soll und wie man mitmachen kann, erzählen in einer neuen Ausgabe des Wissenschafts-Podcast "HörSaal: 15 Minuten Forschung" die Bildungsforscherinnen Lisa Paleczek und Barbara Gasteiger-Klicpera, die das Projekt "Hand in Hand: Empowering Teachers" entwickelt haben.

Jurassic Sounds: Biologist reconstructs insect songs from 165 million years ago

It was apparently not just the roars of the dinosaurs that made up the soundscape of the animal world during the Jurassic period. Crickets and grasshoppers communicated through a variety of songs and high-pitched sounds, as Thorin Jonsson from the Institute of Biology at the University of Graz discovered together with colleagues from the universities of Lincoln, Bristol (UK), Beijing (China) and Tempe (USA). The findings on what are so far the oldest traces of sound on Earth have just been published in the journal PNAS.
