Warum vor allem Frauen True Crime lieben, untersucht eine Studie - Teilnehmende werden aktuell gesucht

Können wir Angst im Alltag durch die Beschäftigung mit wahren Verbrechen im Zaum halten? Diese Frage will eine wissenschaftliche Studie des Instituts für Psychologie der Universität Graz klären. Gesucht werden aktuell Teilnehmende ab 18 Jahren. „Voraussetzung ist nur, dass die Personen entweder sehr gerne True Crime konsumieren – etwa über Podcasts, Filme und Bücher – oder dass sie damit gar nichts anfangen können“, erklärt Studienleiterin Corinna Perchtold-Stefan.

Besonders interessiert die Forscherin, warum sich vor allem Frauen gerne mit Geschichten rund um wahre Verbrechen auseinandersetzen. „Eventuell hilft es ihnen, besser mit der Angst vor Bedrohungen im Alltag umzugehen. Auch Mitgefühl mit den Opfern könnte ein Faktor sein“, schildert Perchtold-Stefan, die erste Ergebnisse im Sommer 2023 erwartet.

Die Teilnehmenden müssen mit einem Zeitaufwand von rund zwei bis drei Stunden rechnen für eine Online-Umfrage, eine EKG-Testung sowie einen MRI-Gehirnscan. Als Dankeschön fürs Mitmachen an allen drei Teilen der Studie erhalten alle 50 Euro sowie eine Aufnahme des eigenen Gehirns.
