AirCampus-Podcast: Was ist die Hochschul-Allianz Arqus?

Die Podcast-Plattform der Grazer Universtitäten, der AirCampus, präsentiert in dieser Woche Wissens-Beiträge zu folgenden Themen:

1) Brücke in die Zukunft: Gemeinsam mit sieben europäischen Universitäten hat die Universität Graz die Allianz Arqus geschmiedet. Dadurch wird die internationale Zusammenarbeit künftig noch einfacher. Und auch Studierende profitieren davon, weil sie in Zukunft leichter Auslandsaufenhalte absolvieren können.

2) Zeig uns, wer du bist! Es ist wieder soweit: Die TU Graz sucht neue Gesichter für ihre Kampagne „Be The Face“. Bis zum 3. November 2019 können Studierende der TU Graz, die ihre Universität repräsentieren wollen, sich bewerben. Marko Buchkovsky ist eines der sieben "Faces" von 2019.

3) Brückenschlag: Verbinden, was zusammengehört: An der Medizinischen Universität Graz wird eine neue Brücke für FußgängerInnen und RadfahrerInnen einen direkten Weg zwischen den beiden Modulen des neuen Med Campus ermöglichen. Rektor Hellmut Samonigg über die Symbolik dieses Bauelements.

4) Willkommen im Waste Shop! Die Kurzoper „Consumnia“ (Premiere: 6. Oktober) zeigt eine düstere Zukunft, in der Organhandel die Schere zwischen Arm und Reich ausanderklaffen lässt. Besonders außerdem: Mit Sehyung Kim kommt erstmals ein Gewinner des Johann-Joseph-Fux-Opernkompositionswettbewerbs aus Graz.

Was ist der AirCampus?
Das Podcast-Projekt der vier Grazer Universitäten versorgt MitarbeiterInnen, Studierende sowie alle Interessierten das ganze Studienjahr über mit wissenswerten Infos aus der Welt der Forschung, aus dem Bildungsbereich und dem Campusleben der Karl-Franzens-Universität, Technischen Universität, Medizinischen Universität und Kunstuniversität. Früher als "Webradio" bekannt, gibt es auf der Website http://www.aircampus-graz.at auch alle Podcasts, die vor dem 2. Oktober 2017 publiziert wurden, im Archiv zum Nachhören. Uns gibt es übrigens auch auf Spotify und iTunes!

Die Initiative erhielt 2012 den Inge-Morath-Preis des Landes Steiermark, 2017 den PR-Panther in der Kategorie "Wissenschaft" und 2018 den Green Panther in der Kategorie Online Kommunikation.

The University of Graz is further expanding its international study opportunities through the European university alliance Arqus and is taking the lead in two key projects. In future, students will benefit from even more joint degree programmes and from simplified recognition of academic achievements through the Joint European Degree Label.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
