Studienwoche in Seggau beleuchtet Geschlechterfragen in Christentum, Judentum und Islam

Die Rolle der Frau im Islam wird immer wieder heiß diskutiert. Aber wie schaut es im Christentum und Judentum aus? Was verbindet die drei Religionen, wo kann man voneinander lernen? Eine unter anderem von Bibelwissenschafterin Irmtraud Fischer gestartete Initiative zum interreligiösen Dialog in westlichen Demokratien hat diese Fragen bei einer Studienwoche in Seggau aufs Tapet gebracht. 70 TeilnehmerInnen - darunter Studierende und ReligionslehrerInnen - diskutierten aktuelle Problematiken der Gleichstellung mit den zahlreichen ReferentInnen. Dabei ging es unter anderem um Geschlechterkonzeptionen in den Heiligen Schriften, die Gleichstellung von Frauen und Homosexuellen und den Umgang mit allen, die nicht traditionellen heterogeschlechtlichen Familienvorstellungen entsprechen. Eine eigene Arbeitsgruppe befasste sich mit Methoden zur geschlechtsbezogenen Arbeit in Schulen.

Eine nächste Tagung der Initiative, die für alle Interessierten offen ist, wird im Sommer 2021 stattfinden.

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
