Portugal-Sonderausstellung im UniGraz@Museum eröffnet

40 Jahre Demokratie in Portugal: Am 25. April 1974 beendete die Nelkenrevolution die 41 Jahre dauernde Diktatur von António de Oliveira Salazar und Marcelo Caetano. Die aktuelle Sonderausstellung im UniGraz@Museum, "Portugal: Fado-Fátima-Fußball und darüber hinaus", erinnert an dieses bedeutende Ereignis, erlaubt weitere Blicke in die Geschichte und Identität Portugals und zeigt historische Berührungspunkte mit Österreich.

Die gestrige Eröffnung der Ausstellung durch Vizerektor Peter Scherrer, Universitätsmuseen-Leiter Nikolaus Reisinger, Konsul Christian Jauk MBA und der Kuratorin, Mag. Isabel Azevedo vom Centro de Língua Portuguesa, wurde von interessierten BesucherInnen regelrecht gestürmt.

Der Titel der Ausstellung, der sich auf die drei - angeblichen - Säulen der portugiesischen Identität bezieht, könnte in Portugal durchaus als Provokation verstanden werden, klärte Azevedo auf. " Das Dreiergespann Fado, Fátima und Fußball ist eigentlich dem negativen, linken Diskus über das diktatorische Regime zuzuordnen", unterstrich auch Univ.-Prof. Dr. Martin Hummel, Leiter des Instituts für Romanistik, an dem das Centro de Língua Portuguesa angesiedelt ist. "Es sind Begriffe des 'einfachen Volkes'. Doch Portugal macht so viel mehr aus als sein prägender, melancholischer Musikstil, seine Wallfahrtsorte wie Fátima oder seine Erfolge am Fußballplatz". Tatsächlich zielt die Ausstellung darauf ab, über diese gängigen Konnotationen hinauszugehen und die portugiesische Geschichte, Kultur und Identitäten aus anderen Blickwinkeln zu betrachten.
