Uni-übergreifendes Projekt untersucht, wie man relevante Informationen sicher verarbeiten und für Kooperationen nutzen kann

Eine Cyberattacke auf die Firma Palfinger hat gerade wieder gezeigt, wie verletzlich die IT-Infrastruktur von Unternehmen und Institutionen sein kann. Gleichzeitig ist es extrem wichtig für den wirtschaftlichen oder auch wissenschaftlichen Erfolg, dass KooperationspartnerInnen einfachen Zugriff auf relevante Informationen erhalten. Ein steirisches Hochschulkonsortium unter der Führung der TU Graz entwickelt nun eine Strategie für ein Daten-, Informations- und Wissensmanagement zwischen Universitäten, Industrie und öffentlichen Einrichtungen. Das soll die Effizienz und Wettbewerbsfähigkeit erhöhen. Das Business Analytics and Data Science Center (BANDAS-Center) der Universität Graz steuert organisatorische und technische Maßnahmen bei, die Datensicherheit gewährleisten. „Unser Ziel ist es, die Plattform so zu gestalten, dass Unternehmen, Forschende und Öffentliche Verwaltung daran vorbehaltlos teilnehmen können. Hemmnisse, wie die Angst vor Know-how-Verlust, sprechen wir gezielt an“, beschreibt BANDAS-Leiter Stefan Thalmann.

Unterstützt wird das Projekt, an dem auch die Medizinische Universität Graz sowie die FH Joanneum beteiligt sind, von Land Steiermark. Bis Feber 2022 soll ein Konzept für den Aufbau einer effizienten, sicheren und kollaborativen Dateninfrastruktur für das Bundesland erarbeitet werden. Bei einem Online-Kick-off am 3. Building biological bridges: Chemist discovers an ecological tool for the pharmaceutical industry

Building a relationship on a solid foundation is also important in chemistry. To produce medicines, disinfectants or plant protection products, stable bonds between carbon atoms must be formed. Conventional chemical methods rely on environmentally harmful reagents and solvents to carry out the desired reaction. This process also produces unusable by-products. Chemist Lilla Gal has discovered an enzyme that enables the same process to take place efficiently and sustainably. The results of her research were recently published in the prestigious journal Angewandte Chemie.
