Im Profilbereich Climate Change Graz erforschen über hundert Wissenschaftler:innen aus vielen verschiedenen Disziplinen den Klimawandel, welche Risiken er mit sich bringt, wie man ihnen begegnen kann und wie sich nachhaltige Veränderungen herbeiführen lassen. Am internationalen Frauentag stellen wir die acht Forscherinnen unter den 25 Principal Investigators von Climate Change Graz in den Fokus.

In the field of excellence "Climate Change Graz", more than one hundred scientists from many different disciplines are researching climate change, the risks it entails, how they can be countered and how sustainable changes can be brought about. On International Women's Day we focus on the eight female researchers among the 25 principal investigators of Climate Change Graz.

Ten years ago, on 12 December 2015, the Paris Climate Agreement was signed at the UN Climate Conference. In order to limit global warming to well below two degrees, only a certain amount of CO2 may be emitted worldwide. While the focus was originally on national emission targets, more than 200 subnational regions and almost 300 cities have now adopted their own targets. But how many emissions are they fairly entitled to? Researchers at the University of Graz have now developed transparent criteria for fair distribution at the subnational level for the first time and determined corresponding greenhouse gas budgets for all European regions. The paper was published today in the scientific journal Nature Communications.
