Die KinderUniGraz startete mit einem Fest in das neue Studienjahr

Rund 200 Kinder und Jugendliche tummelten sich kürzlich beim großen Fest der KinderUniGraz in der Fußgängerzone der Grazer Innenstadt: Zu Beginn des neuen Studienjahres konnten sie auf dem Grazer Tummelplatz an neun Stationen experimentieren, Wissenschaft hautnah erleben und zeigen, was in ihnen steckt. Uni-Graz-Forschungs-Vizerektor Peter Scherrer besuchte das Fest.

Das spannende Programm reichte von der Entschlüsselung kalendarischer Daten in einer mittelalterlichen Handschrift der Abtei Seckau über riesige Seifenblasen und wabernde Nebelschwaden bis hin zum Messen der eigenen Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit. Die Mädchen und Burschen konnten drei Stunden lang in die Arbeitsweise einer Hochschule hineinschnuppern. Auch die drei neuen Mitglieder der KinderUniGraz – die Pädagogische Hochschule Steiermark, die Kirchliche Pädagogische Hochschule der Diözese Graz-Seckau und die FH Campus 02 – sowie Einstein Junior als Gast lockten viele Interessierte an. Unter den vielen Ehrengästen überzeugten sich besonders stellvertretende Bürgermeisterin Martina Schröck und Landesrat Michael Schickhofer von dem Eifer und der Begeisterung der jungen Forscherinnen und Forscher.

When Federica Caforio talks about the heart, it doesn’t sound like an operating theatre, but rather like equations, parameters and simulations. Yet this is precisely where the medical promise of her research lies: one day, clinical data will be used to create a digital twin of the heart – a virtual model that will enable a better understanding of diseases and allow for more personalised treatment plans. She will be presenting her research at the ‘ECMTB 2026’ mathematics conference.
