Gipfelstürmer Hans-Robert Schauer diskutierte mit Sportwissenschafter Gerhard Tschakert

Er war 1978 der erste Österreicher auf dem Mount Everest und hat das international rennomierte Berg- & Abenteuerfilmfestival Graz gegründet. Hans-Robert Schauer ist einer der erfolgreichsten österreichischen Bergsteiger und Filmemacher. Am 20. März 2014 war der Gipfelstürmer in der Reihe „der bewegte Körper“ an der Uni Graz zu Gast und begeisterte mit packenden Abenteuern fast 100 ZuhörerInnen im Hörsaal des Zentrums für Molekulare Biowissenschaften.

Mit Sportwissenschafter Dr. Gerhard Tschakert diskutierte Schauer unter anderem die höhenmedizinischen Aspekte. Insbesondere der geringe Luftdruck – in 8000 Metern Höhe beträgt er gerade noch Drittel des Drucks am Meeresspiegel – setzt dem Körper immens zu. „Man muss bis zu sechs Liter pro Tag trinken“, erklärte Schauer. Den Massentourismus am Himalaya betrachtete der Experte sehr kritisch: „Wenn Massen am Berg sind, wird einem die Faszination genommen.“

Hans-Robert Schauer bezwang insgesamt fünf Achttausender, darunter als erster Österreicher den Mount Everest (1978), zudem den Nanga Parbat (1976) und die gefürchtete Westwand des Gasherbrum IV (1985). In den 1980er-Jahren begann er als Kameramann Expeditionen filmisch festzuhalten. 1986 gründete er das Internationale Berg- & Abenteuerfilmfestival Graz, das mittlerweile zu den größten und bekanntesten Bergfilmfestivals der Welt zählt und 2013 sein 25-Jahr-Jubiläum feierte.

Die Veranstaltungsreihe „der bewegte Körper“ ist Teil der 7. fakultät, des Zentrums für Gesellschaft, Wissen und Kommunikation an der Uni Graz.
