Studierende fertigen ein Modell des originalen Grazer Opernhauses mit Portikus

Das Opernhaus ist nicht nur ein wichtiger Dreh- und Angelpunkt im Leben vieler musikbegeisterter GrazerInnen, es ist derzeit auch Gegenstand von Lehrveranstaltungen am Institut für Kunstgeschichte der Karl-Franzens-Universität. Nicht nur erschließen zwei Bachelorarbeiten unter Betreuung von Ao.Univ.-Prof. Dr. Margit Stadlober, Fachbeirat im Verein Denkmal Steiermark, das Gebäude aus kunsthistorischem Blickwinkel – eine Kooperation mit DI Dr. Marion Starzacher vom Institut für Stadt- und Baugeschichte der TU Graz ermöglichte kürzlich den Bau eines Architektur-Modells der Grazer Oper, das den abgebrochenen Portikus an der Schau-Fassade zum Opernring hin rekonstruiert.


Acht Studierende der TU Graz hatten das Modell im Rahmen der vernetzten Lehrveranstaltung von Stadlober und Starzacher gebaut und vergangene Woche in der Grazer Krones-Schule DI Dr. Friedrich Bouvier, Präsident des Vereins Denkmal Steiermark und Sponsor des Projektes, sowie dem derzeitigen Opern-Intendanten, Mag. Bernhard Rinner, vorgestellt. Ihr Werk hinterließ einen bleibenden Eindruck, sodass das Modell ab sofort im Galerie-Foyer des Opernhauses dauerhaft zu sehen sein wird. Öffentlich präsentiert wird es im Rahmen der Veranstaltung „Klanglicht“ am 2. Mai 2015, bei der die Fassade des Gebäudes zum Kaiser-Josef-Platz hin mit bunten Laser-Effekten bespielt wird.

 

Als kleines Dankeschön an die engagierten Studierenden lud Intendant Rinner die Beteiligten außerdem zu einem Opernabend nach freier Wahl ein.

The Nazi elite school Napola: Historian seeks memories and personal documents

They were to be brought up to become the future elite of National Socialism: boys and girls aged ten and over who, following the ‘Anschluss’ of Austria to the German Reich, attended a so-called Napola (short for Nationalpolitische Lehranstalt; also known as NPEA, Nationalpolitische Erziehungsanstalt). There were nine such institutions in what is now Austria between 1939 and 1945.
