Zorica Sirocic erhielt für ihre Dissertation einen Gabriele-Possanner-Förderungspreis

Einen wissenschaftlichen Beitrag zur Lösung gesellschaftlicher und wirtschaftlicher Herausforderung leistet die Soziologin Zorica Sirocic mit ihrer Dissertation „Festivals and feminist politics in the post-Yugoslav territory“, die Libora Oates-Indruchova betreute. Die herausragende Qualität der Arbeit auf dem Gebiet der Geschlechterforschung wurde auch von einer internationalen Jury hervorgehoben: Wissenschaftsministerin Iris Rauskala überreichte der Wissenschafterin einen mit 12.000 Euro dotierten Gabriele-Possanner-Förderungspreis.
Aus 18 Einreichungen wurden die Arbeit von Sirocic sowie die der Juristin Petra Sußner von der Universität Wien ausgewählt. Gabriele Possanner war die erste Frau, die an einer österreichischen Universität einen akademischen Grad erwarb. Die nach ihr benannten Preise werden seit 1997 vergeben.
