Universität Graz beschließt Maßnahme, um Studienplatzkontingente in Rechtswissenschaften und Umweltsystemwissenschaften voll auszuschöpfen

Für Betriebswirtschaft, Economics sowie Rechtswissenschaften und Umweltsystemwissenschaften (USW) mit den drei Fachschwerpunkten Betriebswirtschaft, Volkswirtschaft und Geographie endet an der Universität Graz heute, den 15. Mai 2019, um 23:59 Uhr die Registrierungsfrist zu den Aufnahmeverfahren. Gibt es weniger BewerberInnen als Studienplätze – in Betriebswirtschaft 910, in Economics 310, in Rechtwissenschaften 600, in USW in Summe 380 – entfällt das weitere Aufnahmeverfahren. 

Da in den Studien Rechtswissenschaften und Umweltsystemwissenschaften heuer erstmals ein Aufnahmeverfahren verankert wurde und die Studienplatzkontingente aller Voraussicht nach nicht zur Gänze ausgeschöpft werden, können sich Interessierte ab 22. Mai 2019 nachanmelden, so lange Studienplätze verfügbar sind. 
Zu dieser Nachanmeldung, sind alle StudienwerberInnen berechtigt, die erstmals zugelassen werden wollen und sich bisher noch nicht registriert haben. Für den Erhalt eines Studienplatzes ist die Absolvierung des Online-Self-Assessments verpflichtend. Die Plätze werden in der Reihenfolge des Einlangens der Anmeldung vergeben, diese ist bis längstens 31. August 2019 möglich. 

Die Universität Graz reagiert mit dieser Maßnahme auf die möglicherweise noch nicht ausreichend bekannten Fristen dieser erstmals betroffenen Studien.

Für die Aufnahmeverfahren der Studien Psychologie, Pharmazie, Molekularbiologie, Biologie, Translationswissenschaften sowie Bildungs- und Erziehungswissenschaft läuft die Registrierungsfrist noch bis 15. Juli 2019. 

Die Registrierung für die Bachelor-, Master- und Diplomstudien muss über das Bewerbungstool der Universität Graz erfolgen: https://studienzugang.uni-graz.at, jene für die Lehramtsstudien unter https://www.zulassunglehramt.at

Rescue and risks: Researchers have surveyed public perceptions of AI

The use of artificial intelligence has had to be made transparent since 2 August 2026. The EU’s AI Act, which has been in force since then, also sets out how risky an application is and which security measures apply as a result. However, the assessment of risks by the legislation differs in some cases significantly from the perceptions of the Austrian public. This is the finding of a representative study carried out by data scientist Stefan Thalmann from the University of Graz and his team.

The Healing Sea: Researchers discover new approaches to treating chronic inflammation in sponges

Chronic inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, ranging from metabolic disorders and cardiovascular diseases to tissue damage following injuries or infections. “Normally, the body is able to resolve inflammation on its own. If this process becomes unbalanced, immune cells remain permanently active and continue to drive negative changes in the tissue,” explains Andreas Koeberle, a pharmacist at the University of Graz.
