Das Ausbildungszentrum WALL der UNI-IT wurde ausgebaut und ist nun wieder eröffnet

Aus drei mach eins: Drei PC-Räume im Wall-Zentrum wurden auf Initiative der UNI-IT-MitarbeiterInnen Christine Kapper, Markus Arras und Hubert Unterweger zusammengelegt und nun als Raum SCHUHMEISTER mit 62 Standgeräten und zusätzlichen 22 Notebooks wieder eröffnet. Der Saal ist von 8 bis 22 Uhr mit BenutzerInnenkarte zugänglich und kann - buchbar über UNIGRAZonline - auch für Lehrveranstaltungen und elektronische Prüfungen verwendet werden. Ist der Raum reserviert, stehen Studierenden zumindest zehn weitere PC-Arbeitsplätze zur Verfügung. Außerdem wurde im ersten Stock des Ausbildungszentrums eine eigene Lounge mit WLAN-Anschlüssen und Steckdosen eingerichtet, in der während der Öffnungszeiten mit eigenen Geräten gearbeitet werden kann.

"Wir freuen uns, dass wir den Studierenden nun eine viel bessere Infrastruktur anbieten können und die Arbeitsplätze von 32 auf 84 aufgestockt haben", erklären die InitatorInnen des Umbaus, Christine Kapper, Markus Arras und Hubert Unterweger. Die Mittel dafür stellte die Direktion für Ressourcen und Planung zur Verfügung. Benannt wurde der neue Raum nach Maria Schuhmeister, der ersten österreichischen Ärztin, die an der Universität Graz 1905 promoviert wurde.

Record of reported species: Styria wins the global City Nature Challenge

Observers in Styria recorded 5,158 different animals, plants and fungi as part of the international City Nature Challenge between 24 and 27 April 2026. This saw the region take first place in the "species" category. Ostrava in the Czech Republic made the most observations, with just under 140,000, whilst the San Francisco Bay Area had the highest number of participants, namely 3,019.
