An Europas Spitze

Grazer Biochemiker Didac Carmona gewann internationalen Bewerb für Wissenschaftskommunikation

Zuerst die Famelab-Vorausscheidung in Graz, dann der Bundesbewerb in Wien, jetzt das europäische Finale in Großbritannien: Der Grazer Biochemiker Didac Carmona hat sich beim international renomierten Bewerb für Wissenschaftskommunikation "The Times Cheltenham Science Festival 2012", das von 12. bis 17. Juni 2012 stattgefunden hat, gegen 19 MitbewerberInnen aus aller Welt durchsetzen können.

Carmona, der am Institut für Molekulare Biowissenschaften der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz gerade an seinem Doktorat arbeitet, konnte bereits Mitte Mai mit seinem Auftritt über den "programmierten Zelltod" die Jury im Rahmen der Österreich-Ausscheidung von Famelab für sich gewinnen. Der Jungwissenschafter musste dabei sein Forschungsthema ohne moderne Präsentationstechniken dem Publikum näher bringen.

 

Spitzenforschung
Carmonas Gewinn bei diesem internationalen Bewerb ist zugleich eine Auszeichnung für die Uni Graz und ihren Forschungsschwerpunkt "Molekulare Enzymologie und Physiologie"; in besonderem Maße zeigt es aber die Spitzenforschung der Gruppe "Altern und Zelltod", die von Univ.-Prof. Dr. Frank Madeo vom Institut für Molekulare Biowissenschaften geleitet wird.

To provide them with even better support on their career path, the University of Graz has established the Research Careers Campus. The official launch took place on 22 April 2026 with a ‘festival’.
