ARQUS Webinar #04 on English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI)
to be announced
Arqus announces the fourth webinar in its English-Medium Instruction (EMI) Seminar Series for the academic year 2025–26, organized by Maynooth University. This year’s series focuses on effective assessment in English-taught programmes and classes.
The webinar, titled “Assessment of global citizenship and entrepreneurial competencies in English-Medium Instruction”, will be delivered by Dr Ieva Žebrytė from Vilnius University (Lithuania). It will take place online on Friday, 17 April 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00 (CET).

- Challenges lecturers face in developing fair and culturally sensitive competence-based assessment in EMI
- What, why, and how of assessing Global Citizenship (GCi) and entrepreneurial competencies (EntreComp) from an intercultural and practice-based perspective
- Incorporation of insights from Māori–Mapuche educational partnerships, neuroscience, and Bourdieu’s theory of practice
- Leveraging students’ cultural and social capitals in assessment and programme design to support deep learning
- Practical discussion: How engaging with students’ fields, habitus, and capitals (“going deep”) relates to connecting with wider educational, entrepreneurial, and cultural ecosystems (“going wide”)
- Participant experience exchange in the second part of the session

About the speaker: Dr. Ieva Žebrytė is Associate Professor in the Department of Business at Vilnius University, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in cross-cultural management and negotiations (in English). She previously held teaching and administrative roles in Chile and has led projects on technology-mediated, decolonizing teaching of sustainable entrepreneurship. Her research interests include EntreComp and GCI competence development.
