Requirements for studying
In order to study at the University of Graz, you must have passed the general higher education qualification exam (secondary school leaving examination, vocational school leaving examination, university entrance qualification exam). For some courses, you are also required to complete additional admission or aptitude procedures and/or demonstrate special knowledge.
Specific access rules apply to the bachelor´s programmes General Secondary Level Teacher Training, Business Administration, Economics, Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Psychology as well as the Master’s programmes Pharmacy and Psychology. Other supplementary examinations may also be necessary.
For some other courses, such as Sports Science and Kinesiology or language programmes, aptitude tests, language competence tests or supplementary examinations are necessary.
International students, i.e. anyone who did not pass the school leaving exam in Austria, must also complete a separate application process.
The English-language NAWI Graz Master’s programmes Advanced Materials Science, Biotechnology, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Engineering, Environmental System Sciences/Climate Change and Environmental Technology, Geosciences, Mathematics, Physics, Technical Chemistry und Technical Physics are also subject to their own admission requirements.
Admission to a Bachelor’s or diploma programme is granted within the general admission period. Only in exceptional cases provided for by law, and for Master’s and doctoral programmes, is admission also possible after this, during an additional period.
