The teacher training programme is organised and provided jointly by eight institutions working on a collaborative basis in the South-East Development Network (EVSO). In this study programme you will benefit from the combined strengths of all these institutions, and a broad range of study options. Your first school experience takes place as early as the second semester!
For the teacher training programme you must select at least two subjects or one subject as well as a specialist area of education.
Latin as a teaching subject at the University of Graz
In this study programme, you will study the Latin language and its literature, from the ancient world through to modern times, and also learn about ancient philosophy, cultural history, religion, and mythology. Training in subject-specialist teaching methodology will prepare you for teaching Latin in schools.
Master’s programme in General Secondary Level Teacher Training – teaching the subject of Latin
The master’s programme in Latin as a teaching subject builds directly on the bachelor’s programme, broadening and developing the knowledge and skills already acquired.
Entry to the bachelor’s programme in General Secondary Level Teacher Training is selective and you will need to complete the admission process. Knowledge of Latin (e.g. as part of your secondary school leaving examination, supplementary examination) is essential for admission to this bachelor’s programme. Evidence of Greek language skills must be provided during your bachelor’s studies (e.g as part of your secondary school leaving examination, supplementary examination).
