The teacher training programme is organised and provided jointly by eight institutions working on a collaborative basis in the South-East Development Network (EVSO). In this study programme you will benefit from the combined strengths of all these institutions, and a broad range of study options. Your first school experience takes place as early as the second semester!
For the teacher training programme you must select at least two subjects or one subject as well as a specialist area of education.
English as a teaching subject at the University of Graz
In this teaching subject programme, you will study aspects of English and American literature and culture, and will also be given in-depth language training. Another central element of the course content is foreign language pedagogy. The focus on intermediality will teach you skills in new media, ensuring you are optimally prepared for teaching.
Master’s programme in General Secondary Level Teacher Training – teaching the subject of English
The master’s programme in English as a teaching subject builds directly on the bachelor’s programme, broadening and developing the knowledge and skills already acquired.
Entry to the bachelor’s programme in General Secondary Level Teacher Training is selective and you will need to complete the admission process. You will also need to take a placement test at the start of the study programme to demonstrate that you have English language skills at level B2 (=secondary school leaving examination level). During your bachelor’s studies you will need to show evidence of Latin language skills (e.g. as part of your secondary school leaving examination, supplementary examination).
