Based on principles such as collaboration, transparency, trust and inclusiveness, the values and practices of Open Science are increasingly moving into the focus of researchers´ work. While opportunities and requirements increase, criteria of research assessment are also being modified to better reward open practices.
This workshop offers insights to theory and practice of Open Science, providing empirical data on developments in scholarly communication as well as examples for Open Science practices and to what extent these practices are acknowledged by communities, institutions and policies.
The following questions will be addressed in a presentation:
- Is Open Science such a new idea?
- What does Open Science imply?
- Which problems is it meant to address?
- How do researchers and society benefit from Open Science?
- How to do Open Science as a researcher? What am I already doing?
- How may Open Science practices be rewarded in research assessment?
- Being aware and avoiding new forms of inequalities
Participants are invited to send their questions beforehand to ub.publikationsservices(at)uni-graz.at and to discuss their own approaches and experiences.
The workshop will be held online via uniMEET: https://unimeet.uni-graz.at/b/sch-zci-adz-lpe
