Personal
I'm analytical researcher at
the Karl-Franzens University Graz.
My working place is the lab E05
at the Institute of
Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Chemistry (head: Prof. Dr. E. Haslinger).
Have a short look at our lab, which has become my second home!

My scientific work deals with chiral
separations of drug enantiomers. The development of methods for chiral
separation has attracted increasing interest in recent years. With racemic
drugs, often only one of the enantiomers possesses the desired pharmacological
activity (eutomer); the inactive enantiomer (distomer) may show unwanted
side effects or even toxic effects. In any case, it represents an unnecessary
burden for the organism since it has to be metabolized. To achieve the
pharmacological effect, the administration of the double dose is required.

For this purpose, capillary
electrophoresis (CE), capillary electrochromatography (CEC) and high
performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is used in our lab. |
