Information for presenters
We have a standard PC
with internet connection. It is connected to a ceiling-mounted beamer
and amplifier/loudspeakers. If you wish, you can bring a laptop and
connect it to both beamer and loudspeakers. But it is easier to bring a
USB stick. In that case, and
if you have sound examples or videos, be sure to put them in the same
folder. Test
your presentation on a different computer from the one you normally use
to make sure it works. In any case bring a backup, e.g. another USB
stick or an
email to yourself with an attachment.
Please reserve a timeslot well in advance. In a 90 minute session we generally have time for either one guest speaker (40 minutes plus discussion) or two students (20 minutes each plus discussion). There is generally some competition for timeslots, especially towards the end of the semester, so if you wish to cancel, please do so well in advance.
Dear students, your name on the program represents an important agreement. If you what to change that agreement, please do so at least two weeks in advance. Otherwise I may not be able to organise a replacement (and I have other things to do!). Moreover, it may not be possible to find another timeslot for you until the following semester. To avoid such problems, please only agree to give a talk on a given day when you are sure that you can do it.
