My scientific work deals with morphology, biology, ecology and systematics of oribatid mites.
Actually, I focuse my research on the family Scutoverticidae. In this connex, two Ph.D.-candidates and I
are engaged in clarifying the taxonomic status of several Central European species; thereby, the development and morphology
of the juvenile stages plays an important role. Furthermore, we try to gain insights in the intraspecific variation of
morphological characters within and between selected populations. The ecofaunistic data collected during our investigations will give us more knowledge about the ecology and
distribution of these scutoverticid species.
Additionally, the cooperation with Dr. Günther Raspotnig within the framework of his project "Chemosystematics in oribatid mites"
represents a second focal point of my work.
