Registration

To register, please download the registration form, fill it out at the computer and send it as email attachment to manuela.marin_at_uni-graz.at with subject “Registration SysMus08”. Payment of the conference fees is by credit card. We use the university’s secure online payment system. For further details refer to the end of this page. After your successful registration you will receive a confirmation email by Manuela Marin. If not, your registration is not completed!

The registration fee includes

• admission to all sessions (by name tag)
• the abstract booklet
• refreshments during the breaks
• wine & cheese reception (Friday)
• concert (Friday)
• lunchtime piano recital (Saturday)

The registration fee does not include

• informal Pre-Conference Dinner (Thursday)
• lunches
• the SysMus08 Party (Saturday)
• the pre-conference workshops

Four pre-conference workshops will take place on Thursday, November 13. They will last 90 minutes and be given by experienced professors from the University of Graz. They will include a theoretical and practical part. The topics are

-  Empirical research methods in systematic musicology (Annemarie Seither-Preisler, Thursday morning, 9:30 am)
-  Presentationand quality control in music psychology (Richard Parncutt, Thursday morning, 11:30 am)
-  English pronunciation (Ingrid Pfandl-Buchegger, Thursday afternoon, 2:30 pm)
-  Academic writing skills in English (Martina Elicker, Thursday afternoon, 4:30 pm)

The number of participants will be limited to 20 per workshop. Each workshop costs EUR 10, including at least one coffee break.  Students who are not attending the conference can still book one or more workshops. In this case, students are asked to fill in the section on personal information of the registration form and to make a comment in their email to manuela.marin_at_uni-graz.at that they do not wish to attend the conference.

Please find below the early bird registration fees (deadline 31 August 2008) and late registration fees (from 1 September 2008). The costs for the party will not change.

Please note that:

• the fee for one day only is half the fee that would otherwise have been paid for the whole conference;
• the fee is independent of the nature of participation – whether active (presenting a talk or poster) or passive (not presenting);
• you must register, even if registration is free of charge for you (support team, keynote speakers).

Cancellation: Requests for refund will be honoured until 30 October 2008 and 75% of total payments will be returned.

Payment: We prefer payment by credit card. Please use the university’s secure online payment system. Click first on the “+” before “Veranstaltungen”, then on “Veranstaltungsübersicht” and follow the instructions in English or German.

If you do not have a credit card, please write an email to manuela.marin_at_uni-graz.at in order to discuss alternatives.

Registration is only completed if you have paid your fees and sent the registration form to manuela.marin_at_uni-graz.at.

Help - Online registration procedure

We noticed that parts of the instructions in the online payment system are in German and may cause confusion. Here is some information on the payment procedure:

1) First you have to give your personal information ("online registration and payment") and the amount to be paid, then you click the button "zum Bezahlen/to payment". A new window will open and it says "Zu Ihrem Auftrag liegen uns folgende Daten vor". Your personal information is summarized.

2) At the bottom of the page it says "Kreditkartennummer" which means "credit card number". Please type your number into the field. Then, you are asked to give the expiry date of your credit card (month, year). You are not asked to indicate the type of credit card.

3) In the next step, you are asked to give your security number (3 digits) of your credit card. It can be found at the back of your card. Alternatively, you may be asked to give your "Master card security code/password" (Perhaps other credit cards also have such additional security codes? ). It says "Sicherheitswarnung" ("security alert") at this point and the code/password has to be given. After having given either the security number of the card or your additional security code you click on "Fortsetzen" which means "to procede".

4) If your payment worked, a new window will open. It says in German and English that your transaction was successful. Only then your payment and registration is completed.
