• The organizing committee is proud to announce that SysMus08 received abstract submissions from 14 countries:
  Australia, Austria, Canada, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Poland, Serbia, South Africa, UK, and USA. After the double-blind peer review process 34 abstracts were accepted for presentation at SysMus08. The final program can be found here.

• The SysMus08 main keynote speaker was Gerhard Widmer, Professor and Head of the Department of Computational Perception at the Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria, and Head of the Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Intelligent Music Processing Group at the Austrian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (ÖFAI), Vienna.

• The SysMus08 keynote speakers representing leading young researchers of systematic musicology were Werner Goebl (Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria) and Silke Borgstedt (Humboldt University, Berlin, & GIM Heidelberg, Germany).
