SysMus08 - Abstract Submission

The abstract submission deadline was May 31. Information on how to submit abstracts for publication in the abstract book can be found here.

Your abstract should be submitted as a Word document and be organised as follows:

The main text should be structured as follows and not exceed 500 words in length for the entire file including headings and references.

Your supervisor(s) can be co-authors of your submission(s). The first author should be a student.
Your abstract should be written in such a way that the reviewers can quickly make an informed decision about the suitability of your research for the conference. Describe your research as concisely and specifically as possible. Think about the main questions that expert readers might have about your research, and address those questions.

The title should correspond closely to the main content (e.g. the main question and/or conclusion) and include the most important key words. Its length should be between 5 and 10 words.
The Background section should survey relevant literature without referring to the specific research question.
The Aims section should clearly and concisely explain your specific research question.
The Main contribution section should include a clear statement of your main finding or thesis, and the main evidence or arguments that back it up. In empirical papers, the main contribution should include information about the method (participants, procedure, etc.).
Please use the Implications section to discuss any implications of your research that you consider noteworthy.
The references section should contain at least 4-5 entries that are also cited in the text.

Talks will be limited to 20 minutes followed by a 10-minute discussion. Posters (in portrait format) will be displayed throughout the conference and will be presented in a separate session.

Presenters must be or have recently been enrolled as a student at an internationally recognized institution of higher (post-secondary/tertiary) education. By “recent” we mean at any time between 1 January 2005 and the present. The presentation must be based on research that the author did as a student during that period.
