the Austrian League for the United Nations | Styrian Section
The Austrian League for the United Nations | Styrian Section (Österreichische Liga für die
Vereinten Nationen | Landessektion Steiermark) can be seen as the unofficial "permament mission", or embassy,
of the United Nations to the province of Styria. As an affiliate of the der Austrian League for the United Nations,
which was founded in 1945, the Styrian League has committed itself to holistically informing the Styrian population
on a local and regional level about the activities of the United Nations and its organizations.
The Styrian League aims at in increasing the interest in international relations and to support the understanding
of current foreign, security and econonic policy debates. In so doing, the Styrian League respects the fundamental
importance of human rights, the sovereign equality of all states and the self-determination of peoples. With its
events, newsletters, blogs - and websites such as this - the League aims at fostering mutual understanding between
the peoples of the world - as a prerequisite for peaceful co-existence and sustainable development.
