The Institute for Geophysics, Astrophysics and Meteorology (IGAM) of the Institute of Physics of the University of Graz
is active in teaching and research on various topics in astrophysics
and solar physics. The main research interest lies in the physics of solar eruptive phenomena (flares, CMEs) and their impact on our near-Earth space weather.
The Kanzelhöhe Observatory for Solar and Environmental Physics,
dislocated by about 200 km from the campus in the Carinthian mountains, performs full-disk high-cadence high-resolution monitoring
of solar activity in Halpha, Ca II K and white-light. The data are fully available to the scientific community through the
Central European Solar ARchives. |
