Our group works on the identification of regulators and mechanisms of different modes of cell death
(apoptotic, autophagic, and necrotic death). Yeast as a unicellular organism has been established
as valuable model to elucidate conserved cell death pathways. Data obtained in the yeast system
is eventually tested for transferability to higher model systems like
mammalian cell lines, flies, and mice.
