Job Announcements

About 40 people work at the Wegener Center, about 35 of them are scientists.  In addition, there are opportunities for internships, mainly in summer. Details on the current staff can be found at People > Staff Members. Since many young scientists, in particular  those who are working towards a diploma or a Ph.D., only work at the Wegener Center for a limited period of time, we frequently look for new employees. You can find all current job openings on this page. These include scientific, administrative and technical positions. In case there are currently no job openings, we gladly accept ad-hoc applications.  Internship applications should be best submitted between Jan 1 and Mar 31 every year.

Ad-hoc Jobs Applications

Ad-hoc applications only make sense for scientific positions (diploma theses, dissertation, post-doc, senior post-doc) since administrative and technical positions are rarely available.

In case you would like to apply for a scientific job on an ad-hoc basis, please submit the following documentation:

1. A letter (max. one page) describing your scientific interests regarding the Wegener Center and regarding research topics that you are particularly interested in (see the web page section Research for reference).
2. Your CV (curriculum vitae) with a focus on your studies and research accomplishments until now, as well as on your expertise and knowledge, which you consider relevant for your area of interest; please add a list of publications in case of a post-doc.
3. A transcript of your course grades and one copy of your diploma thesis (if graduated) or dissertation (if post-doc).

Transcripts (complete list of all graded classes and courses including the diploma exam and doctoral viva) can usually be obtained from your university. In case you have completed significant parts of your studies at various universities please enclose one transcript per university.

The best way to submit your application is electronically (e.g. pdf files). Use the word “ad-hoc application” in the subject header of the e-mail. Send the e-mail to Mr. Robert Mandl. Please feel free to copy the e-mail to a leading scientist of your choice at the Wegener Center. Of course you can also send your application by mail (Leechgasse 25, A-80I0 Graz attn. Mr. Robert Mandl). Please do not submit large files (files in excess of I0MB) by e-mail. We will be happy to review your application profile. We will take your application into evidence and we will contact you in case an existing position becomes available or if a new position is created. Your interest is appreciated.

Internships

In summer 2012, a couple of internships will be available at the Wegener Center.

In case you would like to apply for one, please submit the following documentation:
