Diversity is strength! – Diversity requires cooperation!

The URBi Faculty, which was established in October 2007, is composed of the 4 branches of science of Educational Sciences, Sports Sciences, Geography and Environmental Systems Sciences. Five institutes and three scientific centres see to the needs of around 4000 students. (organizational diagram).

Research and teaching focus on current issues in the fields

• Education – social integration – teacher education,
• Exercise – health – sport,
• Regional development – sustainability,
• Environment – climate change.

Scientific analysis complements the development of practical problem-solving approaches in dealing with social problem areas.

The wide range of sciences and topics requires an interdisciplinary approach to the respective topics. Besides numerous national and international research cooperation projects, a wide variety of extra-university contacts – both on the regional and supra-regional level – are maintained. This selective inter- and transdisciplinary exchange builds the basis of solution-oriented cooperation between science and society.

For the sake of its graduates, the URBi Faculty also strives to bring theory and practice as close together as possible, for instance, by the joint development of professional perspectives or the opening up of new fields of activity.
