South-Eastern EuropeIn front of the background of several years of manifold and intensive co-operation with the regions of South-Eastern Europe, Graz University has been the first university in the German-speaking area which has defined its university-wide, main focus “South-Eastern Europe” as the profile-setting core of its university developmental concept. Thanks to its expertise and its knowledge of both the needs and the co-operative potential of South-Eastern Europe, Graz University has long been an important forerunner in the implementation of the vision of a complete European integration within the EU. As part of a widely spanning arch of partnerships, the University takes into account these historically grown connections that are of importance in many fields. On the one hand, stabilization, know-how transfer and standardization are important issues to be implemented by working "for and with" partner institutions in the region. On the other hand, science and research “on” South-Eastern Europe should be increasingly supported in the different disciplines. In addition, the University of Graz plays an active role in the implementation of the Bologna Declaration, aiming at involving the countries of South-Eastern Europe into the creation of a common European Higher Education Area. Joint activities range from research focuses at the faculties to activities within the framework of university-wide agreements. The following web sites offer some examples of the implementation of the university-wide focus. Co-ordinator for South-Eastern Europe co-operations:
