Admission to DART is based on the review of the application dossiers by the admission committee. While admission is a competitive process, there are some minimum prerequisites for being considered by the admissions committee: Previous degree:A formal requirement is the acceptance for the doctoral studies in social and economic sciences at the respective university (University of Graz, University of Vienna, or Vienna University of Economics and Business). The previous degree prerequisite is an outstanding (top 10%) Diploma or a Master’s degree (to be completed before beginning studies in the DART program). If you have not finished your university degree as of yet but will have completed it by the beginning of the DART program, please enclose an official preliminary grade report in your application and indicate your estimated date of graduation. We do not accept applications from students who hold only a Bachelor’s degree. Fields of previous studies: An undergraduate specialization in accounting, finance or economics is strongly recommended. Beyond a rigorous undergraduate education emphasizing analytical and quantitative skills as well as clarity of thought and expression, a strong interest in accounting issues is essential for success in the DART PhD program. An adequate mathematical preparation is very important. GRE/GMATApplicants are required to take the quantitative section of the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) aptitude test or the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). See http://www.gre.org for further information on the GRE or http://www.mba.com/mba on the GMAT. Language CompetencyThe language of the entire DART PhD program is English. Applicants whose native language is not English, are required to submit Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score, unless they have a degree from an English-speaking college or university. See http://www.ets.org/toefl and http://www.ielts.org for further information. |
